Novak Djokovic hammered Andy Roddick to qualify for the semi finals in London
The Serbian number one tennis star Novak Djokovic has sailed passed the American tennis giant Andy Roddick to qualify for the last four stages of the ongoing World Tour Finals tennis event, which is being held at the O2 Arena in London, England these days.
The former world number two Novak Djokovic needed to win just one set to qualify for the next round of the tournament and he showed his class in a tremendous way. The match came out to be a pretty convincing for the Serb as his veteran rival Andy Roddick
seemed a little out of touch and totally failed to give a strong challenge to the Serbian star.
The match was almost one sided as the current world number three young and dynamic Djokovic proved to be a bit too tough for the American current world number eight. It was a sixty-five minutes long battle of tennis between the two tennis giants but in the
end the twenty-three years old settled the brawl in a victorious way. Djokovic snatched the convincing victory from Roddick by 6-2 and 6-3.
Now the Serbian ace will face the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer in the second semi final match of the World Tour Finals event. The match between the two tennis stars is definitely going to be jaw droppingly exciting and interesting as both of the tennis
veterans are currently displaying the best of their tennis game.
On the other hand the current world number one Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal will take on his arch rival British number one and current world number five Andy Murray in another semi final match of the tournament.
After the match the Serb star Novak Djokovic expressed his thoughts and told the media that he is very happy with the way he has performed so far in the tournament. Djokovic added and said that he is feeling very happy about the fact that he has qualified
for the last four stages of the tournament.
While talking about the level of the competition in the World Tour Finals tournament Djokovic said that the top eight players of the tennis world have participated in this tournament and now top four have qualified for the semi finals round of the tournament.
The statistics are a vivid proof of the tournament’s high calibre and high level of competition.
The Serbian veteran expressed that playing against the world’s best tennis players is never easy and so far he is very delighted over the fact that he has performed according to his plans. He continued and said that all the players are giving their full
to defeat one another and all the players are in a good form so every match is tough and requires best physical and mental fitness to play.
The recent win against the twenty-eight years old American number one Andy Roddick has given Novak Djokovic new hope and a boost for the upcoming match against the sixteen Grand Slam titles winner Roger Federer.
The victory against Andy Roddick is special because Djokovic has been enduring an eye problem as he has suffered a disappointing defeat in the round robin match against Rafael Nadal due to this. But his qualification has proved that the Serbian star has
recovered well from the misery.
In the match Novak felt some difficulty to defend the powerful serves of Andy Roddick and struggled a little while responding to Andy Roddick’s serves. On the other hand the American also looked to be struggling with his backhand shots.
The ordinary display of backhand shots from Roddick made him a little frustrated and that is how the American started to make mistakes in the match. Andy’s crumbling performance gave an easy opportunity to Novak Djokovic and the Serb clinched the marvellous
victory pretty easily.
