Novak Djokovic is not worried about losing the top rank – Tennis News
World number one, Novak Djokovic, will lock horns with the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, on the eve of Friday in the semi-final battle of Wimbledon Championships. If the Serb tennis ace loses the match and the Swiss legendary star
goes on to win the seventh Wimbledon final of his career than the 30-year-old Federer will reclaim his number spot and it will be a majestic achievement.
However, the 25-year-old Serb is not concerned about losing the top rank at the end of the Championship at All England Lawn Tennis Club. He just wants to play the best possible tennis he can and leaves the rest on the luck.
The superstar from Serbia further commented, “When you're playing at this stage of a Grand Slam against one of your biggest rivals, there are a lot of things involved a lot of things on the line. It's not the first time that I'm
playing to win or lose a ranking and it's not something that I think about too much. I really just want to focus on the match."
Talking about his clash with the former world number one from Switzerland, Djokovic stated, “He has a variety, great variety, in his game. He uses his serve very well. He opens up the court. He uses that slice really well to get
the balls to bounce low. He's very aggressive at times. He can defend well.”
Furthermore, the Serb tennis ace confessed that the Swiss legend is very smart and can’t be deceived easily, especially on grass courts . However, he has confidence on his game style and will look to contain his arch rival from
running away with the show; after all he is the defending champion of the tournament.
The match will definitely attract viewership from all over the world. Every tennis fanatic was eager to see the day when these two players will clash each other for yet another semi-final Grand Slam contest. They have fallen in
the same side of the draws in the last 13 out of 15 editions of Grand Slam tournaments. It is definitely against all the rules of statistical probability but even the maker of this universe wants a fight between the two superstars in the semis.
The other two semi-finalists have never won a Grand Slam Champions; Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. So, they will also be gunning to reach one step closer in achieving their career long dream of winning a title in Wimbledon.
