Novak Djokovic pens down 5-year contract with UNIQLO – Tennis News
UNIQLO, a Japanese cloth manufacturer has penned down a five-year contract with the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic. From Wednesday, the Serb tennis icon will become the global brand ambassador of the company and will
be seen in commercials, sponsorship campaigns and exhibitions promoting the UNIQLO clothing worldwide.
The deal incorporates the partnership for future product lines and the establishment of UNIQLO functional wear. Djokovic will commence his first project in the Roland Garros French Open. The 25-year-old Serb will wear the clothes
designed by UNIQLO and promote them amongst the spectators in Paris as well as television viewers.
Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President and CEO of leading global Japanese retailer Fast Retailing, was delighted to have the Serb onboard and stated, "We are extremely pleased to have Novak Djokovic become UNIQLO's global brand ambassador.
We will use the most innovative fabrics and technologies to develop match wear that can contribute to the performance of a globally recognized and respected sports person like Novak. At the same time, UNIQLO will incorporate latest fabrics and technologies
to co-develop with him the ultimate functional apparel that can be worn, and enjoyed, by people all over the world."
Djokovic signed this deal because his vision of improving lifestyle of people matched the long-term goals of the company. In a press conference, he stated, “I feel a natural connection with UNIQLO. It’s the ultimate functional
wear, which is exactly what I need as both a sports person and an individual who leads a very active life.”
It seems like the Australian Open champion has met the ideal brand that is close to his heart. He likes the way company approaches its business and their product suits his goals. At the moment, Djokovic is practicing hard in Paris
to dethrone the reigning French Open champion, Rafael Nadal, and become the second man in the history of tennis to win four straight Grand Slam titles.
This miracle has not been repeated since the great Rod Laver did that in 1969. So, it will be a big occasion for tennis fanatics to witness history repeating itself after almost four decades. However, Nadal is still the hot favourite
to clinch the title especially after seeing her classic run of form in the championship at Rome that helped him to climb back to the number two spot after losing it merely for two week to the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer.
