Novak Djokovic rise above hate to prepare for US Open title defence – Tennis News
World number two, Novak Djokovic, enters another major contest at the US Open Championship with a huge burden on his shoulders. He has to defend the title he won last year after an intense battle with the Spanish superstar, Rafael
Nadal, who will miss out on 2012’s edition of the tournament due to a chronic knee injury.
The Serb superstar is confident that he will repeat history and make sure that no points are lost that will help him close down the gap on top with the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer. However, an interesting question about his personal
terms with his first coach, Jelena Gencic, cleared the air as Djokovic commented, “I'm sure she didn't mean any harm. Everybody has problems. My problems are much smaller than an average person's problems. I cannot complain about my life."
Djokovic might be under a bit of criticism after failing to keep up to the standards he set last year. However, he was seen to be firing back in form in the recent past; winning the Rogers Cup in Toronto before entering the third
successive Grand Slam title defence of the season.
He further added, “I love playing in this tournament; the last five years I have had lots of success. It's incredible and a very unique feeling to come back to New York as defending champion. It's been a long season and a long
summer, but my year has been really good. I actually try to always look from a positive side. I do feel physically stronger and [more] prepared than I did last year.”
The title defence will began on the second day of the Championship that is Tuesday 28th of August. He has slipped to the number two ranking after failing to hold on to his Wimbledon Championships title at the All England
Lawn Tennis Club in London. He will not like to extend the gap of points with Federer and put up his best show to successfully defend the US Open title at New York. Let’s hope the tournament brings some best tennis moments that are remembered for a long a
period of time.
