Novak Djokovic slams down Viktor Troicki in third round clash – BNP Paribas Masters 2011
Top seed, Novak Djokovic, won his 10 match against compatriot Viktor Troicki, world No.19, as the two went on to play the third round fixture of BNP Paribas Masters 2011 at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, Paris, France on Thursday,
10th of November. Playing on hard indoor circuit, it took the Serbian world No.1 almost two hours to finish off with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win after the top seed went down in the first set of the fixture.
Commencing with the match, top seed, Djokovic started off with the match opener serving first. However, compatriot, Troicki took the top seed down breaking him early and capitalizing, 1-0. Extending his lead, world No.19 served
next and pocketed his first service game, 2-0.
Djoker finally pulled off a winner serving out his second service game cutting down the lead to 1-2. Maintaining his lead, the 25-year-old Serbian bagged another winner, game three, before his compatriot, world No.1, struck back.
Djokovic served out game five, 2-3, and broke his countryman in the sixth to level up the scores at 3-3.
However, Troicki struck and broke back capturing game seven, 4-3, and serving out game eight to lead the set 5-3. Left with just one more game to finish off the set winning, 25-year-old mesmerized the top seed winning away one
of the last two games and bagging the set, 6-4, and moved on to the next set.
Djokovic, unable to capitalize in the first set, made his comeback in the second. Serving out the set opener, the top seed broke the lower ranked compatriot in the second to bridge his two games lead. However, Troicki struck back
as he broke-n-served next to evening up the scores at 2-2 right away.
Serving for game five of the second set, the 24-year-old top shot ignited as he served-broke-served next, captivating three straight games and led 5-2. With one more game to go to level the set scores, Djoker pulled of a winner
out of the last two games, winning the set 6-3 and stepping back in the game.
Troicki, on the other hand, was tiring up fast. Serving for the decider set start, the 25-year-old broke down in the opening game, 0-1. Djokovic then presented his compatriot with a startling display of perfection as he mustered
away in lead without losing the first four games, 4-0.
The lower ranked Serbian was able to bag only one game, game five, 4-1. With two more games to go before the top seed succeeded into the quarter-finals, Djokovic finished off in style. Serve-n-breaking next, world No.1 concluded
the match winning the third set 6-1, and the match with a comeback.
Through into the quarter-final stage of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, the 24-year-old now moves on to play against the sixth seed and Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, to battle out the semis spot of BNP Paribas Masters 2011.
