Novak Djokovic to feature in the Hyundai Hopman Cup 2013 – Tennis News
Reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic, will take part in the Hopman Cup and grace the tournament with his appearance. Hyundai Hopman Cup hasn’t featured any world number one player since 2003 which was a major disappointment
for the officials who worked extremely hard to lure the top rank player every year. However, the 25-year-old Serb has decided to feature in the event that starts from December 29 and carries on until January 5 at the Perth Arena, Australia.
Event Director Steve Ayles conducted a press conference in which he stated, “Hyundai Hopman Cup has an impressive tradition of fielding the world's best players with 15 competitors ranked No.1 or No.2 at the time of the event over
its 25-year history. Novak has had another stellar year on the Tour and, knowing how much he loves this event and his Aussie fans, I think we can expect some exciting tennis from the world No.1.”
Djokovic who will commence his second successive year title defence at the Australian Open in the midst of January will team up with the former world number one, Ana Ivanovic, and they will represent their native country Serbia
in the contest. The jolly Djokovic will take the stage with the hottest Ivanovic, the team that reached the final of the tournament in 2011 but the duo had to make way for the Belgium team as Ivanovic suffered an injury.
Last time any world number one player took part in the Hopman Cup was the local professional Lleyton Hewitt who was the world’s best player in 2002 and 2003. It’s been a long gap but now the hottest duos are lined up for the event
which is a positive for any tournament official. On November 5 2012, Djokovic will be crowned the year-end world number one player for the second successive season.
There are some new features being installed by the officials of Hopman Cup. These are listed below:

“Outside practice court open for free public viewing - watch the stars warm up for their matches.
More than 300 digital screens within the futuristic new stadium ensure fans catch every emotion-charged point no matter where they are.”
Free public transport will be provided to the viewers. The tour will be conducted across the roads of Perth to engage the audience for the event that is not accustomed to huge viewership at the arena which is a bit of a disappointment.
