Novak Djokovic topples Bautista-Agut to enter quarters – Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2013
World number one, Novak Djokovic, cruised past the Spanish contender, Roberto Bautista-Agut, with a breadstick at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2013 on Wednesday. He jolted down a 6-1, 7-6(4) victory against the 24-year-old to power into the quarter-finals
at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Seeded top in this event, Djokovic has perfect stats of 10-0 this season after conquering the Australian Open where he triumphed over the Olympics’ gold medallist Andy Murray. He is now bidding to regain this title where he was dethroned last year against
the Dunblane native.
After stealing the show in one hour and 30 minutes, Djokovic took lead in the FedEx ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Head 2 Head series against the Spaniard and secured a place in the last eight. The Serb reflected about the match in a post match
press conference,
“I think I played really, really well and at a high level throughout most of the match. And then I had another poor game like yesterday towards the end, when I needed to close it out with a few match points. At 5-4 he served well, he fought his way through,
and I have to give them credit for that. He's a great competitor. I never played against him, so I didn't know really what to expect. But generally I'm feeling quite confident on the court, which is a good thing."
The Serbian top ranked star went berserk after entering this ATP World Tour 500 series event. He went on a four-game killing spree before Bautista-Agut could come on the score board. Djokovic bagged the last two games and eventually clicked the opener with
a breadstick.
The 25-year-old maintained consistency in his game in the proceeding set.  He got the coveted break in the second game and leaped to a 3-0 lead. Djokovic squandered his serve in the ninth game but remained calm and took the set to a tie-breaker. He jumped
to a 5-2 lead in it before closing out the set with a 7-6(4) win.
Next in queue for Djokovic is the seventh seed, Andreas Seppi from Italy.
The world number two, Roger Federer, also earned the spotlight later that day. He nudged up a 6-3, 6-4 success against Spain’s Marcel Granollers to progress at this event.
