Novak Djokovic tops Carlos Berlocq to enter quarters – China Open 2012
Top seed, Novak Djokovic, got the better of the Argentinean star, Carlos Berlocq, with a breadstick at the China Open 2012, an ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 500 Series event held in Beijing, China. He jolted down a 6-1, 6-3 victory
against the world number 50 to power into the final eight on Wednesday.
The former world number one showed flawless skills to outshine Berlocq in their second meeting at this outdoor hard court event. After stealing the show in one hour and 14 minutes, Djokovic improved to a 2-0 lifetime in the FedEx ATP Head 2 Head Series against
the Argentine and secured a spot in the quarter-finals.
"I won the match. So in my eyes, that's good enough," Djokovic stated after triumphing over the Argentine. "I have played a great match, much better than I have done in the first round. Yes, it was interesting couple of games in the end of the match where
he came up with some good shots. We played some entertaining points. I should have done a better job in winning those games and winning this match before, but in the end I won in straight sets. That's what matters the most."
The Serbian top ranked star, Djokovic thundered into the National Tennis Center. He drew the first blood in the second game and leaped to a 3-0 lead. After Berlocq plucked his serve in the fourth game, the Serb pocketed the last three games and licked the
opener with a breadstick. He swiftly swiped his entire serves without facing any real challenge and converted two out of four break opportunities to his advantage.
Ranked second in the world, Djokovic went on a five-game killing spree in the following set. Apart from losing his serve twice, the Serb capitalised on another break chance and clinched the set with a 6-3 score line. He dusted away two out of three breakpoints
he faced and cashed in half of the eight break chances to earn the fame.
Djokovic will next face the Austrian number one, Jurgen Melzer, who stunned sixth seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov in three sets to set up this epic clash.
