Novak Djokovic vs Janko Tipsarevic – Match Preview: US Open 2011
Wednesday, 7th September, awaits the start off of the quarter-final round of the US Open 2011. The recent qualifiers include the former world No.1 Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Janko Tipsarevic and the world No.1
Novak Djokovic.
Playing against each other for the 4th time, the two Serbians will face each other at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York, USA. The two Serbians have never played on hard court
against each other. However, we cannot undermine the fact that the world No.1 dominates at all grounds.
Considering the prior matches the two played, the 24-year-old has a clear advantage. The recent fixture at the Serbian Open went in favour of the world No.1 as Tipsarevic withdrew due to a thigh injury.
Tipsarevic, 27, is currently at his top most form. Losing only 2 matches out of the last 10, the Serbian has improved his play all over. With his sports specs as his signature, the Serbian plays with a powerful right hand in combination
with double-handed back hand.
The former Yugoslavian athlete has a high tendency to outrun his opponent in long rallies and cross-court shots but it is hard to suggest that an 8 games win record on hard court would prove successful for Tipsarevic as he plays
his fellow countryman.
On the other hand, Djokovic has been spectacular. With a 66-2 win loss record this year, the Serbian world No.1 has set records on hard court. Djokovic has proved sensational on all ground whether it is clay or hard circuit. Having
won 10 titles this year, the 24-year-old is now looking forward to win his 11 title and his 4th Grand Slam win.
Considering the fact that the world No.1 plays as an aggressive baseliner, the all-court player has an advantage as he has won most of his matches on hard court. 2nd to that, Djokovic is super strong at backhand shots
and serves.
Known as one of the greatest movers on the court with superior agility, court coverage and defensive ability, the world No.1 has a greater winning chance in the quarter-final. Djokovic is expected to win in straight sets and take
his semis seat.
