Novak Djokovic vs. Roger Federer: Semi-Final Preview – Wimbledon Championships 2012
Expectations will meet reality on Friday night when the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, will take on the Serb world number one, Novak Djokovic, in the semi-final clash of the Wimbledon Championships.
It is one of the two semi-finals that will be contested on the eve of Friday. It is a semi-final that will feature a combined 21 Grand Slam Championship titles holders whilst the other clash will feature the two players who have
never tasted the flare of major title. However, the battle between Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has a lot of hype as well considering that the Scot is eyeing his maiden Grand Slam glory and the Britons are waiting to see one of their players lift a Grand
Slam trophy since 1938.
Federer and Djokovic will face each other in the semi-final of the sixth Grand Slam Championships from the last eight played. They were drawn on the same side on 13 different occurrences in the last 15 editions of Grand Slam Championships.
So, that technically defies all the statistical rules of probability. One of their arch rivals from Spain, Rafael Nadal, was a victim of the second round upset that left the two tennis greats to provide some glory for their fans all across the globe. However,
the home crowd is supporting their national hero, Andy Murray, to get off the mark in the Grand Slam titles category.
There is a lot more things on the line than just a final berth for the two players, Federer and Djokovic. The Serb is looking to defend his title and has to go through the Swiss legend to book a spot in the finals. However, if
the 30-year-old Swiss star will grab the triumph on the eve of Friday, he will be just one win away from reclaiming the lost throne from the Serb. He will become the number one player in the world and grab his seventh Wimbledon title at All England Lawn Tennis
Club. It will be a historic moment for the legendary tennis professional who has ruled the sport for almost a decade and still hasn’t lost the charm at all.
They are meeting for the 11th in the Grand Slam Championships on Friday. It is the most number of matches contested by two players in a major tournament. So, they are also registering a brand new record just by entering
the Centre Court in Wimbledon.
Too many things are on the stake and Djokovic is the one defending all of them while Federer is the one seeking glory. So, ideally speaking the Swiss Maestro should come on top of the Serb in the semi-final clash and write a brand
new history by claiming the number one spot at the age of 30. I hardly remember any player in his 30’s was ranked world number one in the history of tennis.
Stage is ready for a thrilling battle and both players are eyeing glorious moment; will it be the man of Vika who will come on top or will the cheers of Jelena Ristic help her boyfriend to another Grand Slam final showdown? Only
time will tell.
