  1. Garden soil is no good, there isnt enough drainage

you need a good bag of potting mix or if you know soneone who has a garden maybe they will give you some compost which is great

make sure you dont over water them,  always check to see if the soil is dry before you water

after a week inside take them out for a rinse with fresh water and some light not direct sunlight, plants give so much joy, you will feel good

  2. Garden soil wont do the job at all.  You need a potting mix.  Go to your local nursery and find a good premium belnd of potting mix. While your there you can look at indoor (foilage) plants.

    Goodluck

  3. I have quite a few indoor plants.

The easiest ones to maintain would be palms

    and Diefenbachias

Be careful if you have children around though, because Dieffenbachias are very poisonous.

Your normal garden soil will be good enough to use, but I'd suggest adding some slow release fertiliser into it as well.

    Happy gardening!

  4. Hi i have a seen a product that is good for smaller areas, it also saves water. You can see it on the web www.thomasplastics.com.au. you can just use ordinary soil or buy some potting mix already bagged.

    Good luck and happy planting

  5. Well JoeIE, You have to be aware that most plants and trees need sunlight and if there is no sunlight, then you must create artificial light for your plants or trees to grow. Unless you want a soil bed in your lounge room. So first the area that you need greenery needs to either have sunlight or artificial light. Then, it's up to you if you want an exotic look in your home or a classic look.

Also, the plants that you choose can overly grow in areas which you do not want them to grow, so be careful with choosing a plant or tree that has a high growth rate.

For the bathroom you might want to use a plant or small tree that loves humidity, because of the shower. Many palm trees are designed for humidity areas and also create an extra cool exotic look. The Bamboo palm tree is an exotic tree and basks in the humidity, try that.

Lastly, the type of soil you need depends on the type of plant or tree you choose. It depends if your tree or plant needs alkaline soil or acidic soil, also pH tolerance is just as important. Check http://Realpalmtrees.com for more soil info and a reference tool.

Once again, the fertilizer depends on what plant or tree you get. Be careful with manure or fertilizer, too much can kill a plant or tree.
