Sometimes going down to 200, for about 1-2 weeks now, and I still don't see or feel any weight loss!!! I've been counting diligently, I feel like I should be getting skinnier, my stomach's empty and stuff, but the weight's just not leaving at all!

  1. because your body is in starvation mode, your metabolism shuts down to conserve energy since it isnt getting anything in. your body doesnt know there isnt a famine on and it will need to make due with what it has for a while. remember your body conserves because it doesnt want to die or eat its own organs. it doesnt know tesco is around the corner.

  2. Your body thinks/knows that it is starving so it will conserve all the fat and calories possible to keep you alive. You should eat at least 1200-1500 calories a day for weight loss. Try to eat at least 5 meals a day to keep your metabolism up.

  3. It's called starvation mode.  Your body's survival instincts kicked in and is not allowing you to lose weight.  Instead, your metabolism has slowed down leaving you with less energy.  I'd start to increase your calorie intake (you may gain some weight until your body readjusts it's metabolism back to normal) and increase your activity to help kick your metabolism into gear faster.

  4. Need more calories. 400 to 500 is not healthy. This is not the way to lose weight. Get up to at least 1200

  5. When you are eating as few calories as you are, your body thinks you are starving to death and shuts down your metabolism. Eat more, get some exercise and you will lose weight. Your friend either misunderstood her personal trainer or else her personal trainer is a complete f*cking idiot. No one with any professional training would suggest eating 700 calories a day, let alone fewer than that. If you are a teen, you are going to s***w up your health by eating so few calories, so get up to 1,000 calories a day of the right kinds of food and start a realistic exercise program.

  6. brisk walk at least 30 minutes a day...exercise is the best way to strengthen muscles...dont be lazy...

  7. your body is in starvation mode. no matter how little calories you eat, how little fat content there is- YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT IF YOU GO BELOW 1,400 CALORIES A DAY! Your body is made to save you, to fight to survive no matter what. Currently, it thinks that food is scarce, so it is turning EVERYTHING you eat into fat. fat, fat, fat. more than if you just diet healthily (eat right and exercise... simpler and healthier). it will slow down your metabolism, you won't lose weight for a long time, and you'll be constantly hungry. your hair will begin to fall out. the skin around your stomach will get yellow from bad digestion. your fingers/lips will turn blue. you will become anemic. you will lose your menstruation (period), which means you're infertile (no kids for you!). your finger/toe nails will FALL OFF. your vision will begin to go. your bones will become brittle, like an old lady. that's right, you'll be like an old lady. you will be in constant danger of just dropping dead from a heart attack, since your heart is a muscle, and your body feeds on muscle, NOT FAT, when it's in starvation mode. your kidneys will fail, your liver will fail, and you will die a slow and very painful death as your family wonders, why.

yes, i'm trying to scare you. eating disorders are h**l and that is where you are going. please watch this video before you starve yourself further:

please, talk to a doctor, parent, or someone else who can get you help.

you may not have an eating disorder, YET, but you are heading there.

  8. This is very dangerous.  By cutting back this many calories you are slowing down your metabolic rate and not getting the nutrients necessary for a healthy daily diet.  There's nothing wrong with consuming calories.  Just eat healthy.  Healthy diet along with exercise will burn weight.  The key to burning fat is retaining muscle.  By starving yourself your body is actually cannibalizing it's on muscle tissue.  You have to exercise and EAT healthy to burn fat, NOT starve yourself. :)

  9. You are not going to lose weight starving yourself!

900 a day is only a temporary start up for maybe a week at most, then you go to 1200 a day for a diet. Make sure it is rich with vegetables, some fruit, protein and carbs it has to be balanced and nutritious so your body will lose the weight safely.

Your friends trainer is not a doctor, ask a doctor if that is a safe or healthy way to lose weight!

  10. your body hits starvation mode once its under its base rate for sure, and most peoples base rate is around 1200kcals.

If this happens, what you eat gets stored, and turned to fat. You will in addition be eating your muscles as fuel to keep you alive.

Your friend is a personal trainer?? please! can I have her details so I can repor her? its acutally abusive for her to be advising his, and I wouldnt be suprized if it was against some type of law by the World Health Organization- she is in a position of power and she advises that? what an idiot! even I know better then that and my only experience is through self study and my eating disorder!

Oh and by the way, I am not obese, my BMI is 18 and I eat way more then 500kcals a day, you seriously need to get your head checked and your ego sorted as you are not talking any sense- but that could be an effect of the body eating the brain- which it will do if it is starving.

  11. Because it's dangerous and stupid to eat that many calories a day.

Try eating 1500 calories a day and you will notice weight loss.

You eat 500 or less and your body thinks you are dying and starts shutting down, your muscles wither away and you become very ill.
