  1. the Navy WILL NOT Pay to move you to NTC.  your DH may or may not get permission to reside off base.  you will not be allwoed to live in MFH.  you will not necessarily have access to base facilities, esp. medical.    If you want to pay out of pocket, you may do so.  I had to pay out of pocket when I did the same thing.    I didn't  bother while he was in AECF.   but I did for C school.  But I also knew he was going to  be staying in Norfolk after C school and I had a job waiting for me already.  and he was not permitted to live with me at first.

BAH will be based on where you are SUPPOSED to be  and if you move on your own you forfeit Family Sep.

  2. It depends on how long the training is.  Ask your husband's recruiter about his specific situation.

  3. Your family can live with you... You have the same school as my husband (FC and ET are the same for the 1st few weeks) he lives with me and the only time he has to stay on base are days he has watch... his roommates for those days also live with their families. As a matter of fact FC and ET are the only one's I've seen with their families on base. When my hubby gets home I'll have him put his 2 cents in.

I looked at Mrsjvb's post and she's wrong... I'm living proof that she's wrong... and her post below is incorrect as well, we got 2000 to move, I had the option of having the military do it for me, BAH is based off of Great Lakes and my hubby's duty roommate lives in base housing with his wife and 2 kids, we got offered a house on base that we turned down...

it's all about how you go about your paperwork to get your family there, if you slack off, you can forget it, but if your active about it, it won't even take that long, took my husband 3 weeks, to get everything ready for me to move all I had to do was drive from Pa to Great Lakes

  4. During basic training... Definately not...

During school... It depends on long your school is. Usually your school orders are only accompanied (meaning your family can go with you) if the school is over 6 months long.

  5. If you are in traing for longer than six months (in the same area) they allow it. FC/ETs have very long traing time so they allow it in that case.

  6. no you can not you are in training 24/7
