OK. Assuming u have No$ (and Im warning u, loads of roms dont save!!!).  Uve got to have the back up media NDS set to 512k.  Save ingame (as in opening menu when playing).  Wait for it to save.  When its finished, close the EMulator.  Go back into it.  Click continue.  If there is a black screen, u need to download another rom cos your rom is stuffed download here:

If your not using No$, then iDeas is fine too, but Im pretty sure that No$ is the best.  Plus, snapshot wont work so DONT USE IT !

yes you can save, by either pressing the enter key or whatever brings up the menu with the pokedex, pokemon party, bag, name save, etc. go to save and save it or the other way, click on file at the top of the screen and scroll down to SAVE AS, it should have a little arrow pointing to the right, move to it and it will come up with 8 save files for you to save onto. i usually do this before a battle or before going to capture a legendary pokemon.
