  1. Federer is washed up for now but it's a brand new hard court season now and then 2009 is a fresh new year once the olympics are out the way. Nadal won't stay number 1 for more than a few weeks after the US open. If Djokovic wins the US open it'll be a whole new ball game as far as points go with all 3 guys notched up at around 6000 points we could see multiple world number 1 changes on a tournament basis down the stretch of 2008.

  2. Nadal is only 22 years old and Djokovic is 21....These two will slug it out as soon as Federer steps down.....and Yes, Nadal will be a force to reckon with......

  3. Roger beat every one to the finals who is of youth. You are not in the finals so you are not winning tournament.

  4. NO!  Nadal won't dominate tennis the way federer did.  He'll consistently dominate the French for another year or so, but i doubt he'll win wimbledon again next year.

Nadal isn't dominant on Hard Courts.  The farthest he's ever gotten in the US Open is the Quarters... as for the Ausie Open, he made it to SF last year, but he hasn't shown consistant success at the hard court majors

  5. No..Not really..

The point here is not when Nadal becomes No #1..But actually how long he can be there..

  6. nadal has the physical stamina and ground strokes to keep advancing further, but his game on hardcourts is still not reliable enough.. one day good, one day terrible, etc

he has much work to do on the hardcourts,, clay will stil be his surface.. another possible wimbledon win can happen for him as well

  7. yes i am sure nadal will dominate

  8. i agree with u my frd.....

  9. Clearly Roger isn't having a great year but I don't think that he is as washed up and old as you are suggesting.

Rafa is going to have a lot of points to defend next year and while he is most likely going to be number one, he will no doubt be the favorite upon entering every match he plays, therefore putting added pressure on him.

Roger meanwhile, will have a lot more time to simply put this year behind him and put the focus back on his game as the pressure of being the number one player in the world would be lifted from him, and now all he has to do is concentrate on winning matches. Roger can still win Wimbledon and can still be a dominant force to be reckon with on every other surface. He will have more losses from here on out, but he is still very much capable of winning on any surface at any point in time.

I don't think that Rafa is going to be as dominant as Roger has been these last five years. Rafa's entire game is built around the clay court season, where he is unbeatable. However as he gets older, you can safely bet that he is not going to as dominant on clay in the years to come as he is now. Furthermore even though he won Wimbledon this year, his other trips to the final was not that easy for him. His opponents feel more confident of their chances against him on every other surface besides clay, and therefore they believe that they can beat him. Unless Nadal was to improve his hard court game, then he is always going to have a much tougher time on that surface and be more vulnerable to losses against opponents he would normally easily beat on a clay court.

Then there is the style of Nadal's game. His heavy aggressive baseline game is already causing him quite a lot of injuries in his very short although exceptional career. I mean... can anyone remember the last time they saw Nadal played a match with his legs not taped?

As he continues to play this aggressive game, his body is going to pay the ultimate price. Once that happens he will no longer be as fast around the court and be able to chase down every ball that he loves to do. Take that out of his game and Nadal is just another player on the tour. Of course I believe he will have his moments of brilliance here and there in his career, but what I am saying is that these moments are going to be very far and in between of each other, as his opponents starts to catch up to him and start to beat him more consistently. Kinda like what's happening with Roger now.

  10. Yeah ofcourse Rafa can :)! In fact what Nadal will do that Federer has never achieved is win all 5 grandslams :) Rafa will do that at some point in his career. However roger winning at the French hmm... its just going to get tougher id say this year was his only chance, ofcourse he is still a great athlete and can win roland garros however i dont think he will. I think Novak would have more of a chance winning at the French before fed does.
