According to the website above on ZDnet Walmart is going exclusively Blu-ray by June 2008...so it would be benificial to see the companies that werent on Blu-Rays band wagon finally jump on. I would love to buy Heroes but I dont want to get something that will be worthless in couple months. No more movies made for it etc, etc.

Has anyone seen any sources that say those companies will get on board Blu-Ray?

  1. It is official. HD DVD is dead. So you can expect Blu-Ray announcements from Universal and Paramount this week for sure! They can't leave their investors hanging more than a day.

  2. there has not been anything official form Universal or Paramont, but you can expect them to change to Blu-Ray by the end of the year if not by next month. Once they do make the jump it will still take some time to produce the older ones on blu-Ray

  3. It was rumored several months ago, when WB went Blu-ray exclusive, there was a clause in the contract between Toshiba and Paramount that will allow Paramount to get out of the HD-DVD exclusive deal if WB goes Blu-ray exclusive.  But so far, Paramount has not said anything about going back to Blu-ray.

Universal is also rumored to go neutral even though it was HD-DVD exclusive since the beginning.  Universal has not said anything about going neutral.

Now that HD-DVD is almost dead, you can expect Universal and Paramount to start making movies for Blu-ray.  Paramount used to make movies for both HD-DVD and Blu-ray before it signed a deal with Toshiba.  There's really no point for those companies to not make movies for Blu-ray.
