Now that I sold my car, what do I do with my plates I took off?

If you purchased another vehicle to replace the one you sold, you can transfer those to the new vehicle. If you didn't, you don't really need to do anything with them. I wouldn't suggest throwing them in the trash though cause if they haven't expired, someone may take them and put them on their car. May want to check with the DMV in your area and see what they suggest.

return them to your local DMV, and get the form that needs to be faxed to your insurance company, to effectivly remove the car from your responsibility

well if they are good you can transfer to new car at dmv if you dont have new car to put them on you either turn them in or bent them and throw them away

In Florida-the DMV told me there was a charge to turn them in, so I hung them in the garage!
