I love this question. Becuase im a yanks fan and the fact that i always hear that they buy their championships is bogus. And if you look at it, there was only 2 or 3(if you count schilling, he got traded but was first with the sox) players on the sox in '04 that come up through their farm system, so in all reality the sox bought the '04 series. They might stick with bay for a while,  he is a decent left fielder and seems to be doing good things for them. But i really think they may go out and get a shortstop someone, maybe not a huge name but someone like Jack Wilson an underrated shortstop, they need some help at that position.

No one buys players. They sign players to free agent deals or make trades. The Yankees don't buy. The Red Sox don't buy. The Mets don't buy.

It's laughable that a Yankee fan would talk about any other team buying players...that said I think the Red Sox have one of the best farm systems in the league and I don't think they will be doing too much in the off-season...not to say they won't do a trade or maybe dip into the free agent market but I don't think they they will spend the entire off-season looking to upgrade their team as they have one of the best teams in the league as it is...I am guessing if they do anything it will be to shore up their middle relief and I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to move Lugo.

The Yankees buy players - Red Sox choose, and I think they made a good choice with Bay. Manny being Manny was getting to be too much of a distraction and it was causing too much trouble. No more drama, no shows and Francona will save a bundle on Tylenol & Tums.
