  1. if they had crosby malkin and fleury they would have tha whole pens roster.

  2. Here's the thing. . . I am not sure of most of those choices.

    Good:

Keeping Lecavier, that's a must.  Prospal, 71 pts last season.  Vrbata, 50+pts.  Malone - 50+pts, good

    Bad:

Billy Ray Melrose = No grasp on hockey, especially the new NHL.  With infinite access to sources and teams, he can't pick a winner to save his life.  I wouldn't want him running my team considering the misjudging he does as an analyst.  Koci, 0 pts in 18 games, -4. Hall, 6 pts in 46 games? Kolzig, .500ish goalie?  Roberts - What is he, 90?  He's 43 and did nothing for the Pens, I sure hope they didn't give him a lot of money.

    Unknown:

    Stamkos - Draft pick

It seems like a player grab for anyone available at the beginning of free agency.  Except for a few, they don't seem like solid picks.  If I was buying the cup, I would pick some more veterans who are desperate to end their career with a cup. . . Works for the Wings. . .

  3. they won't get really far

  4. Me. Barry melrose has single handedly got my interest in the nhl back. That is how awesome he is. Sidney crosby out. Barry melrose in.

  5. I won't be that's for sure

  6. if they get rolston i'm on the wagon!!

    YEEEEE HAAAAA!!!

  7. offense wins games, defense wins championships.  The lightning defense is terrible, boyle is good offensivly, but not great in his own end, luckowich is decent in his own end, and lundin to me is the only one sound in his own zone.  the other dmen are offensive minded, they need to land a hard nosed, stay at home defensman, but not as expensive as Orpik

  8. Who's playing defense?

  9. not too far

  10. They still need a goalie. Kolzig is hardly Cup material at his age, and I saw on the ticker at work that they're shopping Mike Smith around for some reason. Until someone there knows the significance of having a good goaltender, the Bolts will never win another Cup.

  11. they have the same opportunity as every other team. two words:

    salary cap.

i don't feel threatened by their surge. apparently you do. or resent it. (although i admire their effort). besides a competive NHL is a better NHL. and swings in balance of power is ok w/ me. yes, even if my red wings (GASP) became a cellar dweller. (it wouldn't be the first time ... at least for some of us.)

but you are correct about the bandwagon. in a matter of hours, it has grown from being just Homes (and TBL ... the guy w/ Melrose as his new avatar), to an entire host of suddenly, and mysteriously off - season fans.

they have a good chance at making the playoffs. could win one round. doubt that they'll go further. playoff hockey is an entirely different animal.

  12. You know, they didnt get that memo that the Rangers have been sending out since after 1994....buying Stanely Cups doesnt work.....

  13. They added quality players and i think they have a chance. I also thought last year they had a good team and look where they were. Skamkos never player a NHL so he could be a flop. Prospal could be a good player but could get injured. Roberts was injured last year for a good amount so. Malone doesn't have Malkin, but i htink he will still do okay. dont know muc habout Vrbata and Kolzig could also get injured or not be as good as he was last year. I still dont think their D is anything to be afraid of. But i think we will see some people board the Tampa Bandwagon.

  14. still not gonna happen

  15. I don't see anywhere in that list a player who is a true difference-maker.  Bit players, at best.

Paying Malone $5 mill per year is such a stretch!  The guy never has and never will score more than 30 goals a year.  He's a 2nd-liner, at best.

Prospal is too inconsistant.  Kolzig is on the downhill side of his career.

I see TB staying near the bottom of the standings, again, and for many years to come.
