i thought i had it all figured out but now I'm like so confused.. My dreams have always been to either become a broadcast journalist or a nurse..

The thing is that if i stick to broadcast journalism what if i don't make it to like abc news or similar news stations or E news ? My life would be c**p.. And if i go into nursing i know i will have a good and an ok salary.. But i live in nyc and i don't think i could live well in nyc with a nurses salary.. ? UGH i cant decide which one i should do.. =[

And i also want to learn how to speak french. I already know how to speak english (duh lol) and i also know how to speak spanish. So yeah 3 languages would be awsome.

  1. consider doing a business degree, since it seems your cost of living will be high.

if you go into broadcast journalism, expect to work the copy editors desk or some other meager job for a few YEARS. you don't get into CNN overnight, it takes a long time and a lot of achievement.

nurses are always needed, you can be a traveling nurse and get almost everything paid for. and you will always be able to find a job, not the case with journalism.

what about public relations? it would be an awesome job for NYC, look into it. or advertising or marketing, although all these professions are highly competitive.

dont worry though, most people change their degree a few times, and the first year all you really take is basics.

and you should probably learn chinese instead, it will be more useful and you might actually see a financial reward for it.

  2. Check out your counseling center they can give you good advice. They usually administer a couple personality tests and then decide what career would fit your personality best. Give it a shot.

  3. This is normal. That's why freshmen are allowed to be undeclared in their majors. You can always take classes first and decide your majors later on when you are able to figure out what you're really good at.

  4. I dont live in NYC but i know it's d*** expensive, So if you want to become a nurse you should probably change where you live...you can take courses in those languages dont take them as a major because you wont be able to handle 3 Majors...or Online courses.
