Now that the blue ray has prevailed are they going to replace the dvd in camcorders to?

Should i buy a dvd camcorder or wait?Will they still sell the dvd disks for camcorders or will it be replaced by the blueray.I dont want to lose out if i buy one that takes dvd's.

  1. DO NOT BUY A DVD BASED CAMCORDER. Because of teh way they compress the video data, they provide the worst available video quality of the consumer camcorder storage types.

    Hard drives and some higher-end flash memory is better - but still highly compressed video.

    MiniDV tape stores video using DV and HDV formats. This is the least amount of compressiom which translates into best available video quality.


  2. I very much doubt it.  We've already got hard drive camcorders, blu-ray media will be very expensive for quite a while yet and there are semi-conductor storage technologies waiting to be released that will make everything else pointless.

    But then I've been wrong before!

  3. get an HD recorder if you want one know. A DVD camcorder will get replaced. If you get a HD recorder with a hard drive and a blu-ray burner, you should be fine
