  1. We used to go to bed about an hour later during summer vacation.

  2. Well, he is only six so you might not want to stretch the limit to much cause when school gets back, he will be used to the time you gave him over the summer.  So, here is what I think:

Since his bedtime is 8:30, you should now make it about, 9:00-9:15

  3. My sons can stay up a half hour later...around 9pm, any later than that and they`re baffoons the next day LOL!!

  4. I have 3 daughters, 13 yo and 10 yo twins, and in the summer they have no bedtime and they can sleep till anytime they want.  Even with all that liberty, they generally are in bed by 10:30-11 pf and are up 9 ish.  A few weeks before school starts, we start a scheduled bedtime.

The way I see it is .. these kids are going to live by schedules for the rest of their lives. Let them cut loose while they can.

  5. I let me kids stay up 1 to 2 hours later.  We do have a tradition of going to the drive-in movies one night over a weekend and staying up all night long. The kids think its cool and they go to bed really early the next night and usually the night after that.  My kids are 12 and 14 though.  Wouldnt suggest it with smaller children. We have been doing this for the past 3 years.

  6. We stick with the regular routine, with some minor exceptions for some special summer activities. That way there is not a fight in August to get him back on track.

  7. it their vacation! they usually play hard all day anyways, so i havent had any problems with them when the sun goes down they are in the house usually a half an hr to an hr after that they fall asleep

  8. I have a 13 year old and a 7 year old and I let them stay up and play until they fall asleep during the summer. I'm a stay at home mom so they don't have to go anywhere in the morning. When I worked they would have to go to bed about the same time I did, 9 or 10, then I would take them to the sitter in the morning.

About 1 1/2 wks before school starts I get them back on their schedule, in bed at 8:40 - 8:45 and all lights and tv's off at 9:00.

  9. yeah let some of the rules slide, for some ppl summer vacation hasnt started

  10. My kids, 11 and 7 hate it but I try to stick to a schedule. My husband and I are not late nighters and like to have an hour or so alone after the kids go to bed, so we have to send them to bed at the same time all year or we would have to stay up later since we don't get summers off and still need to be up early every day.

  11. My kids aren't on vacation yet, but when they are they usually are allowed to stay up half an hour later than during the year (until close to the beginning of the school year, when we push the bedtime back again so they get used to waking up earlier).

  12. Well my son is 6. His school bed time is 8:30 in the summer I let him stay up till 9. Then he sleeps in a little in the morning.

I guess it depends ont he age of the child really.

My sister also in my custody is 15...school let out and she will go to sleep when she wants to ..thats fine..She follows her rules...no sleeping in the day...Up at 10 am latest, no sleeping before 9 pm for her...Got ot keep her on somekind of scedual.
