But so soon?

  1. we pull out when we can...whats the big deal?

  2. Bush will never agree to that.  He wants to keep the troops over there to protect the oil companies, um, I mean, protect the innocent civilians from the insurgent terrorist enemy combatants.

  3. What was he thinking? Who do those people think they are? Iraq belongs to us. We paid for it. What an ungrateful wretch the Prime Minister is. Why doesn't he go back to his own country?

  4. well...he'll probably end up dead...

(hopefully this won't happen) and the U.S. will rig an election to get someone in office who will beg us to stay.

  5. This is expected.  He has to stand up and be able to lead his people into creating a unified country.  A statement like this is designed to show solidarity, that he's ready to move on with this progress.  I'm glad they're getting back on their feet and that we'll see a lot of our soldiers home soon.

There will still be a US presence there for a long time, but it will be like Germany and Japan, small bases that don't interfere with the local government.

  6. Sounds like we are winning and the war is nearly over.  Violence is down.  Even more and more of the media are finding it hard to talk this down.

Iraqi military is taking control and Al Quiada is on the run.  Militias are being disarmed adn or brought into the mainstream and warlords are becoming politicians.

Sounds like complete victory to me.
