For a while before it was regulated, buildings were made of lead, asbestos, etc.....and if you tore them down, which used to be legal, the lead and toxins went into he air and one spec of paint in the lungs is enough to make someone ill. So the question is, are buildings, still constructed with toxins, and toxic chemicals?

  1. Never.  Asbestos and lead based paint were banned in the early 1980s.  Buildings older than that may still contain these materials, however.  Hence the signs.  As long as they remain undisturbed, they're not a health threat.

  2. No there isn't, they can no longer use any known toxin in buildings.

It is safer to leave the Asbestos in place than it is to remove it, and lead based paints are just painted over with first a primer and then with paint, either latex or oil based.
