I just started community college of Philadelphia and i wanted to

know somethings, here are the following questions i would like answered.

What classes should i take?

What is the average salary of a NE with 2 years experience?

Is the job in demand, do the world really need Nuclear engineers?

How many years does it take to become one?

  1. A guy I went to college with flunked out of the Nuclear Engineering Program. If your at community college just take the usual math, physics, chemistry and possibly engineering mechanics.

    It takes just 4 years to become a nuclear engineer. You could go to school longer to get a master's or PhD. But it's not required to get a job.

    To be honest there's usually a demand for any engineering major. If you want to play it safe, I'd pick the two big ones mechanical or electrical.


  2. Entry level salary is $44,326.  I don't know it with 2 years of experience.  The field has no growth and not many people want to get into it.  It'll take about 4 years to become one.  Make sure your classes from the CC transfer to whatever four year school you go to afterward.
