Hello, imagine that the humanity gets extinted and all the people die, ¿What happen with the nuclear power? These plants are controlled by computers, ¿is there a system that shutdown automatically the plant? I supose that yes. ¿Do you know if exists this system? ¿This system shutdown if the demand of energy is low? In this case I think that is dangerous for the rest of animals of our planet that keep living.

  1. What happens when we have no oil.  Ya think wind power will sustain the human race?  Get real.

  2. if people go extinct over night, it will be such a catastrophic event, that a few power stations won't be noticed.

if people go extinct slowly, there will be people around to operate and shut down the power plants.

  3. These things automatically shut down, yeah.

Needless animals will be better off without humanity as it is; I think the lingering nuclear radiation will be the "lesser of two evils" LOL =P

  4. From what I understand, after the Chernobyl disaster, the rules of Nuclear energy were rewritten just about all around the world (to those who used/use them.) So that, not only would there be procedures in-place in just the occasion that a melt-down occurred but that if for some reason workers were not able to get to the nuclear reactor's controls (a'la extinction, disaster, building damage, etc.) that the electronic computers installed in the reactor would eject or dilute the Uranium rods, thus preventing a catastrophic meltdown that could wreak havoc accross the entire continent.

So yes, there are measures in place to prevent a nuclear disaster in just such an event as our extinction.

  5. yes, the reactor has over 100 signals that causes the turbine to trip and will shutdown the reactor. the US reactor have negative feedback also, which means as temprature increases in short amount of time power will decrease and then tempreture will decrease and  then shutdown all naturally,

So, hopefully that helps and you can sleep tonight
