What stopped us from bulding the nuclear power plant in yellow creek, mississippi?

People say it was because of the long island nuclear power plant meltdown but I don't know.

  1. I don't want to be mean but just so you know  it was Three Mile Island.   Not long Island.

The person above is correct.  It takes an NRC license.  However, when you have  a possible site to build it on. Also, they have to hold a public hearings and the residents of those areas are like "not in my backyard" and object... and yeah no plant.

A brand new coal plant costs around $4 billion dollars... a new nuclear plant is only $7 billion dollars.   Due to public acceptance and stuff like that... companies just don't want to take the risk.

  2. All it takes is to get the necessary permits from the proper government agencies and a few billion dollars.

    Go for it!
