Nudnida Luangnam trounces Shuko Aoyama in the round two – Dunlop World Challenge 2012 CH
World number 210, Nudnida Luangnam, displayed a remarkably thrilling performance against the local challenger, Shuko Aoyama, in the second round of the Dunlop World Challenge 2012. The Thai professional nudged up and consolidated
her win, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 on the eve of Thursday. The duo successfully terminated the match within two hours and 10 minutes.
The local confidently began the opener with a strong resolve to dominate her rival and confidently drew the first blood. She cashed on to her opponent’s serve in the third game, which aroused an alarming situation for the Thai
participant. Luangnam skilfully responded in the sixth game, squaring down the score line to 3-all. Eventually, she pulled out the opener with a 6-4 lead.
The 25-year-old, Luangnam had a comparatively better initial serve precision of 63 percent, with 13 of 22 first and eight of 13 second serve points. On the other hand, her competitor double faulted four times, snatching away 13
of 20 points.
In the second set, the right-hander Japanese busted away the higher ranked Thai’s initial serve and pocketed away the initial two games. This crumbled Luangnam’s thrust to battle forward. The local contender maintained her serves
with poise and determination to avenge her former set loss. The 24-year-old, Aoyama, achieved her long awaited breakthrough in the seventh game. She terminated the set with a 6-2 score line.
The world number 325, Aoyama, faced a brutal competition at the hands of her challenger in the decider. She busted her initial serve and completely dashed her future hopes to win. The score line levelled down to 2-all in the fourth
games, but the Thai participant jumped forward with a strong resolve to secure the end victory. She warded off all the remaining games and very tactfully pulled out the final set with a 6-2 win.
The 24-year-old, Japanese contestant secured 68 percent initial serve, converting 12 of 19 first but lost the lead, as she was unable to pocket away even a single point from the nine bestowed onto her. She availed one of three
serve breaks and her rival attained three from five. The higher ranked Thai swiftly served with an above average initial serve precision of 81 percent. She was able to attain 16 of 22 first but none of five second serve points.
