Nuevo Vallarta and malaria...?

I gave blood the other day and Nuevo Vallarta was on the list of places that have high rates of malaria and it means you can't donate blood for a year after going there. I just so happen to be going there next week. Is this anything I need to concern myself with? Will there be a lot of mosquitoes and should I bring some Off! spray?

I'm going there next week also. I did a lot of research and I never saw that. I hope not, I know its humid there, so mosquito's may be around. make sure to take bug spray. Where are you staying?

the actual risk to get mallaria in the area is really short; I think that there is a confussion with "dengue", wich can be a problem, but it is not the same.

Anyway, you must take there off spray to mosquitoes, or buy it there. Even mosquitoes are not too dangereus in Nuevo Vallarta, they will bother you.
