Nuevo Vallarta in August?

My husband and I are wanting to go to Nuevo Vallarta in mid August but don't want out vacation ruined by rain every day. Can anyone let me know if it rains everyday, and if the water gets all brown from the rain? We are planning on staying at the Riu Jalisco or Riu Vallarta. Any comments on either one? We are fairly young and like to have a good time but like to relax as well. This will be our only vacation for a while so want it to be a GREAT one. Thanks in advance!

  1. Right now I am in Puerto Vallarta.  This is April 28th. The temperature here is 80f and not very humid.   In August you will have rain almost every day.   It rains most of the time after 4pm.

Hotel Riu Jalisco and Hotel Riu Vallarta are located two blocks away from each other, same street, same beach.  There are no rivers in that area so I do not think the water will be brown.

Both hotels are family type, lots of kids, August is school vacation time for Mexicans, food is so so but you can always go out for dinner.

  2. I've gone there (PV) several times precisley in August; and yes, it is the raining season, but it doesn't rain every day, and storms are beautiful, very differents to storms in northern states in USA (as example, 'cause I've been there). You will have enough sun for sure. And, besides, the best season for landscape beauty is August and September, it is the time of green jungle and waterfalls. August is perfect to go there, I've gone in october too and it is too dry.

The high humidity will make you feel much hotter than it is, that is true.

  3. P.V. gets extremely hot in the summer and I mean hot.

It is smack in the middle of rainy season as well.

Its almost 100 There right now and its not even May ..when you put the humidity factor in it feels like well over that.

  4. I've been to PV in August.  It doesn't rain all day, every day.  It may rain 4pm to 5pm one day, then 5pm to 7pm the next, then a couple days with no rain, followed by a 4 hour shower the next day--so you can't predict.  It is hot,  but I ran twenty minutes to El Centro and twenty minutes back to the hotel most days with no problem--a lot depends on your conditioning and what your used to.  I got caught in a shower on one run, and it got ankle deep in seconds with all the water running down the cobblestone streets.  If you get caught in a shower, you can just pull into a bar or restaurant and have a beer or two until it passes.

Yes, the ocean water is brown from the rains, but the hotel pools stay clean, so I only swam in the pool.
