Number 4 cylinder is not firing on my car?

1993 nissan 240, 4 cylinder engine. it is not firing on the # 4 cylinder. help

  1. plug, plug wire, rotor, cap, valve stuck, cam bad


  2. check the number 4 tower on the distributor cap, it might be corroded or on the coil pack if that,s what you have instead of a cap.

  3. Pull the number 4 plug.  Is the gap correct?  Reset or replace if needed.  Still no fire?  Check the cable for corrosion on both ends.  Still no fire?  See if you get anything from the cap or coil pack.  If not, replace the cap and rotor or coil pack.

  4. Timing is obviously off.  Spark plug could be bad or improperly gapped.  Plug wires could be bad, distributor, cap, rotor, etc... check the whole firing system.  If thats not it then I would take it to a certified mechanic.

  5. Check plug, wire, fuel injector pulse, and compression. It's one of those items.
