Question:

Numbness after wisdom teeth removed?

I had all four wisdom teeth removed yesterday. When he removed the bottom right one, which was impacted, he pulled and I felt excruciating pain on one part of my face near the tooth. The dentist said there was a nerve there and pulled the tooth anyway. Now I can't feel a single thing on the part of my face where I felt the pain before. The feeling everywhere else in my face has returned. My dentist is not in today but I am really concerned. Should I be worried that I may have nerve damage? I really can not feel a single thing there. Please help!

  1. There is a possibility that he has damaged your nerve. My mom has to get a cavity filled two years ago and the dentist injected the local anesthesia shot right in the nerve line and damaged it permanently. She doesn't have sensation in the bottom right part of her chin, only a little bit of tingling like when the anesthetic is about to go away. For a lot of people, the numbing may last for several days or weeks but will eventually go away. Some people may even be numbed for years and will still go away in time. You should contact your dentist asap.
