Astrology uses the positions of various planets on your birthdate or a given period, and uses the characteristics associated with those planets to make prediction of your character or the general situation of the given period (for example, a week/a month/a year/etc.)

Numerology is the study of numbers. It uses the characteristics associated with the numbers, assigns numerical value to each letter of the alphabets, which is then used to calculate a numerical value to names, address, birthday or whatever, and uses the characteristics of that number to determine a general character.

Those are just the basic idea.
