Numerous Teams gearing up to make offers to Columbus Blue Jackets' Rick Nash -NHL Rumour Update
Undoubtedly, Columbus Blue Jackets’ captain, Rick Nash, is one of the hottest players going into the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) offseason, as he has expressed the desire to change teams before the upcoming hockey year kicks off.
According to the latest rumours floating around the major league, there are over 10 teams that are gearing up to make offers to the veteran player and acquire his negotiating rights, possibly taking over the remaining year’s on his mammoth eight-season,
$62.4 million contract.
Losing a player like Rick Nash is definitely a bad thing for the Columbus Blue Jackets, but seeing how the team has not managed to have an significant success over the past few seasons, the forward has thought of this being a last resort move for his career.
Obviously, every players wants to hold the Stanley Cup high above their shoulders and for Rick Nash, this is the only way to do so.
Toronto Maple Leafs were seen as one of the frontrunners in the acquisition for Nash, but only recently have they termed Vancouver Canuck’s veteran goalie, Roberto Luongo, a better fit for their club.
Detroit Red Wings had also needed some firing power but are reported to instead, focusing on pending Nashville Predators free agent, Ryan Suter, in order to fill in the defenseman gap left by captain Nicklas Lidstrom.
Rick Nash, a native of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, is without a doubt one of the most capable players in the league today. Being a player that has seen 30-plus goals each season for the past seven out of nine career years, having him would certainly be a
win-win situation for any team out there.
But the final choice will be with Rick Nash of course as the player is focusing on winning the cup and choosing only a championship winning team will be the only way for him to go about it.
According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, the trade may take place as soon as this month, most possibly by next Thursday before the free agency deadline.
Developments on the situation should be expected in the upcoming days.
