Nungnadda Wannasuk crushes Chatchaya Sakchatchawan in round one – Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012
In an all-Thai affair, third seed Nungnadda Wannasuk devastated her compatriot, Chatchaya Sakchatchawan, with a bagel at the Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012 on Monday. She nudged up a 6-0, 6-2 victory against her fellow citizen to power into the second round
at this outdoor hard court tournament taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.
Wannasuk showed outstanding performance at this ITF (International Tennis Federation) Women’s Circuit event and subsequently overpowered Sakchatchawan. After earning the fame in an hour-long marathon, the seed booked a spot in the round of 16 at her home
soil event.
The 23-year-old made a thunderous entry at the Rama Garden Sports Complex. She unleashed barrage of powerful forehands and wiped out six games in a row. Wannasuk brushed off all four breakpoints she faced and cashed three out of five break chances to pocket
the opener with a bagel.
Ranked 449th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Wannasuk kept momentum rolling in the following set. After Sakchatchawan held her serve in the fourth game, the seed bagged the last four games and eventually sealed the set
by winning six games to two. She held her entire serves with ease and marked two out of four break opportunities to her advantage.
The higher ranked Thai ended her four-match losing streak with this victory. She secured a quarter-final berth at the Bangalore ITF event (lost to local wild card entrant Kyra Firdaus Shroff) before falling into the losing streak.
Next up for Wannasuk is the Swedish challenger, Matilda Hamlin, who triumphed over the local wild card entrant, Areeporn Wanichayapanich, with a breadstick to set up this meeting.
The sixth seed, Hao Chen Tang, will join Wannasuk in the following round. She slaughtered the local wild card recipient, Chanikarn Silakul, with double bagels to secure this spot. The Chinese ruled throughout the battle and recorded the victory in 35 minutes.
She blocked the lone breakpoint she came across and cashed all six break chances, eventually recording the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 score line.
Tang will next face Chihiro Takayama who dumped the Finn qualifier, Ella Leivo, with a breadstick to set up this meeting.
