Most nuns teaching in Catholic schools have education degrees.Many of them have advanced graduate degrees. Most parents paying tuition expect and demand this. Nuns also have degrees in things like nursing, accounting, business and social work. Just because someone is involved in a religious order doesn't mean they can't do anything else.

That's a complicated question because different schools and different Catholic dioceses have different requirements for this.  Many dioceses are currently requiring some amount of training in education, however that's a new thing.  Many of the Catholic schools in which nuns teach are the poor income areas where they cannot afford to pay teachers who are not in religious orders.  This can be problematic, because the nuns may not have any training at all, but the diocese cannot afford to pay real teachers.  Nevertheless, there are educated nuns out there who are teaching validly and with credentials.  This is a very situational question...
