I'm in nursing school and when I'm out I would like to work with Autistic kids and adults. What kind of places have jobs like this?

  1. You could gain employment in residential group homes or in day programs. I have worked a lot with intellectual disability and autism was a diagnosis of a lot of the people I worked with.

Alternatively, you could look for organisations that specialise in that area like special education schools.

  2. Try schools. There are some with programs for students with autism. Also try UCF because they have an autism research lab and office and they could hook you up.

  3. In lots of different ways... there are lots of nurses specialising in Austism. You could be a nurse working at a special needs school, or a respite centre, or you could work within diagnosis which would involve doing observations and consoltations. Talk to your lecturers and make sure you get lots of relevant work experience.
