  1. hi, all you will have to do is interact with the children most of all and assist with tidying up and maintaining a clean and safe environment, they may ask you to help at lunch with feeding children/babies it all depends on wat age range you are with, as you are a student you wont be left alone with the children and so you wont have to change nappies, take children to the bathroom or anything like that, i hope this helps you and good luck

  2. Hi,

As work experience you will probably:

Mingle with the children-play with them, supervise them (not alone), sit with them at snack and group times.

Write notes-what you've seen children do-for staff to right in diaries.

Tidy up and sort out the rooms.

Set up toys and areas for play.

    May help prepare food.

Shadow a staff member-follow them and watch what they do.

As you are probably not police checked and you have no experience you shouldnt be changing nappies...if they ask and you are uncomfortable just tell them that!

Have fun-I've worked in childcare for 5 years and love it!

  3. hi!

Are  you sure you want to work with children? if you want to succesfully work in a nursery you must answer to this question very honest.

It is a very demanding but in the same time rewarding job.

Of course you will have to change nappies. But don't worry..if you really love children you won't find this very difficult. You will have to work in a team , to be able to keep the children happy and safe. You will do plenty of activities and planning. It also depends on the age the children are. If you work with babies for example they totally depend on you to feed them, to put them to bed, to change their nappies and to give them plenty of opportunities to play, and of course to support their development. It is not easy some time but if you love children I'm sure you'll be fine.

  4. you certainly wont be changing any nappies. so count your lucky stars for that. your not allowed basically cos your not qualified. at first you will just probably be doing things like tidying up, just watching the children, learning the routines. handing out snacks, filling the water area, sweeping up sand, getting paints and things ready and cleaning it up after. I shouldnt think there would be anything to worry about. You will know wether you like it or not within the 1st week. Good luck!

  5. as you are 15 you should be changing nappies or be left alone with children. it is also because you have not been crb checked. they don't crb check you if you are under 16.

when i did my work experience in a day nusery i enjoyed it

you join in their play while also supporting the staff to keep the place safe. you may have to cleanup abit but they will tell you were things go.

if they have play doh go play with the play doh while talking to the children.

help feed at lunch time encoruaging them to hold their knife and fork properly and try to get them to eat.

the staff will know that you will be unsure on what to do as they will have been there before themselves.

    good luck and enjoy it

  6. I think Louse m meant you shouldn't be changing nappies or left alone with the children.

Everyone has given a great outline for what you will be doing.

The most important thing to do while you are there is to have fun, the children are a hoot sometimes.

Remember children are learning while they are playing, you could ask them questions while they are playing. What colour is this, this is a funny shape what is it called, what happens when we ...(put water into dry sand for example) Questions get children thinking, if you get something obvious wrong they love it as they can correct you.

Have fun, don't be too nervous, they wont bite - well one or two might!

  7. .you will be assisting nursery nurse you wont be left alone so don't worry to much! you will need to do your CRB check before you start work there. things you might do is prepare snack, wash up, some nursery get student do clean toilets, good luck!
