Nursing/Pumping - clogged milk ducts info needed?

I have been pumping breast milk for 10 mos. Two times before a breast has gotten sore & lumpy. I applied hot packs & pumped more to unclog milk ducts, & it worked. This time the the same thing happened w/ one of my breast, the soreness has gone away, but the breast is still very lumpy. It seems like it may be getting more lumpy, but not sore. I've tried hot packs, masaging, hot baths & pumping more, & the lumps are still there. What is going on? I know when you stop breast feeding, your breast get hard & lumpy & sore. But I have not stopped, I have slowed down a little, like took out 1 feeding/day, but nothing to dry me up. How do I make the lumps go away (the breast looks normal)?

  1. see your gp to rule out beginings of a duct infection, i too had this with my son and ignored it, then as being ignored the ducts swole up into the size of a golf ball and was unbarably painful, then popped and I still have the scars now it had to be stitched up it was so deep..... see your doc to rule out infections in the ducts
