  1. Does the school have a website that you could consult or a printed catalog? Not sure if you are talking about the first year of college to be a nurse or if you are talking about the college of nursing. In the latter situation, you can expect a course in the "Fundamentals of Nursing" which is a generally fairly boring overview of the nursing process and the approach to the patient; the associated clinical is mainly designed to appreciate a holistic approach to the patient, patient safety, aseptic technique, etc. You may have a class in the theories of nursing, which is somewhat arcane (although I have always appreciated the work of Dr. Patricia Benner). You may have an introduction to pharmacology and a introductory class in physical assessment.  Best of luck to you!

  2. Generally you will start out with a basic nursing course "Nursing 101" which may include a clinical. You will  take anatomy & physiology. Some other courses you will probably have to take eventually are english, sociology, psychology, microbiology, chemistry, and pharmacology. There are often other nonclinical nursing classes usually taken at the beginning such as Nursing Assessment or Nursing Issues.

  3. i'm half way through my associates now...

other than the core nursing classes you'll take anatomy and physiology I and II, microbiology, computer science, a math, English....blah blah....you'll have to take a lot others that i don't feel like listing...most nursing programs have such a long waiting list that most people get the non nursing classes out of the way before they even begin the core nursing classes.

if you're starting this fall, they should already have an itinerary of classes for you.
