Nurvita Hanadia Keshya and Andhika Anhar claim Mixed Doubles title at Victorian International
Indonesia’s young players Nurvita Hanadia Keshya and Andhika Anhar stole the limelight as they claim Mixed Doubles title after beating Australia’s Renuga Veeran and Ross Smith in final battle at the 2012 Li-Ning Victorian International on Saturday, June 30, in Australia.
Nurvita and Andhika, who were second seeds in Mixed Doubles main draw of the championship, continued their killing performance in the title match against the local shuttlers and eventually won the crown in a lopsided manner.
The higher ranked Nurvita and Andhika dictated the pace with a considerable ease as they controlled the rallies and overpowered their Australian opponents in straight games without facing any problem.
Renuga and Ross, in contrast, could not stretch their impressive performance in the final battle as they were not match to the mighty Indonesians as they could not match the pace of rallies and eventually lost the fight in just 31 minutes with a comfortable margin.
In the opening set, both sides played at their best and also progressed close at initial stage. However, the Indonesians took over the control while becoming fast at net and established a reasonable lead on the score board until the one-minute mid-game interval.
After the break, Nurvita and Andhika continued showing their impressive skills and stretched their lead without facing any resistance. They were calm and composed on court and got advantage in the title match by grabbing first game with a margin of 21-17.
In the second game, the second seeded Nurvita and Andhika showed their brilliance from the opening points as they took an early lead without facing any trouble.
Until the one-minute interval, the in-form Indonesians were miles ahead on the score board.
After the break, Nurvita and Andhika continued their positive and authoritative play as they spared no chance for their Australian rivals to fight back in the battle.
The impressive play at net and powerful and angled smashes from the rear-court areas made Indonesians very strong on court and they took the second set with a one-sided 21-12 score on the board.
Nurvita and Andhika took home the Mixed Doubles title with a sensational score of 21-17 and 21-12.
