  1. Okay....i bet ur talking about the moscow ballet nutcracker auditions?? They come to every state...yeah i was in it when i was younger as Clara. My advice to you is really stand out in a good way not n a bad way. Confidence, personality and accuracy is very important. Be sure you know your bar wok, demi plies grand, rand de jambes, ect ect. in the bar work be sure to keep your back straight, pointe your toes and make it look easy...literally use all your strength. Try to make it look easy even if its not..lol. I'm sure you know all the bar wrk stuff. SMILE!!! Presentation is very important..of course wear proper attire (tights, leotard, shoes, hair in a bun, w/ bang pinnd up, and smile is very important...not a cheesy one tho...u should be happy to be there and let them no. Idc if u have a horrible smile...smile! lol) The most important thing is to know your stuff and do it to the best of ur ability and be confident. I know u can do it, so believe in yourself and it will happen.

    Good luck!! = )

  2. well practice makes perfect, but practice also makes permanite so make sure your doing everything right. It seems like you've been taking classes so you probably know what your doing. The key to auditioning for dance, it to just go in there, and smile, because that is something that a lot of other girls don't do when they audition, and to perform well, you need to have personality. So make sure you do that when you get to the audition. GOOD LUCK! HOPE IT GOES WELL (:

  3. Smile!!! and look like you have been dance forever ask your sister what she thought that was the most important thing that helped her I hope you get the part!!!

  4. Most likely you may be asked to do a ballet dance sequence for the Toy Doll March in Act 1. The one that goes "Da...da da da da...da...da...da...da!".....all that.

You will likely do a ballet dance sequence to the first 8 measures of that number, which I can speculate that these moves will take place....

    Glissade to L....1/2 measure

    Glissade to R....1/2 measure

Pas de cheval with reverence....1 measure

    Glissade to L.....1/2 measure

    Glissade to R....1/2 measure

Pas de cheval with reverence....1 measure

    Bourrees to L .....1 measure

    Bourrees to R.....1 measure

    Tombe to L....1/2 measure

    Tombe to R....1/2 measure

Tour de jete with left foot--right foot---left foot......1 measure

Likely you will do the same moves for the next 8 measures because the music is the same although a chordal change occurs in the measure 16. The choreographer/ballet teacher/ballet master who will do the audition would probably want to do something different in measure 16, like these moves:

A pirouette to the L....a pirouette to the R......or two quick "changements de pieds" into an Ophelia pose....something like that.

So be sure you know your French terms for ballet, be sure you warm up, and most importantly, know that Tschaikovsky music...because if you worry about the music....you may lose concentration in doing the ballet steps.

I also suggest that you watch several DVD's of professional ballet

performances of The Nutcracker so you can see how a ballet dancer interprets Clara to the fullest.

A little bit about Clara....she adores the nutcracker doll, but is afraid of her brother, Fritz, who is willing to snatch that nutcracker at any time. Clara adores adventure and wishes, and the biggest give-away is that Clara has bravery...she uses her shoe to knock out the evil Mouse King for good during the "battle of the toy soldiers and the mice" scene in Act 1.

    Good luck in your audition.
