Question:

Nutramigen? Has anyone used it?

Our daughter (7 mths) has been diagnosed with severe cows milk and soy protein allergy and has been prescribed this formula 'just in case'.

She is fully breastfed (not even having solids at the mo as we're trying to find out what else she may be allergic to) but obviously we need something else in the house she can eat in case of emergencies.

I was just wondering if any other parents had used this formula and what they thought of it.

Thanks for help. Bx

  1. My daughter was on Nutramigen.  Yes, it smells nasty, but it certainly worked well for her.  She lost weight and we went through every kind of formula there was, but she threw up every kind we gave her. Breast feeding was not an option for us for other reasons, and I feel that the Nutramigen was a life saver for our child.  Yes, it is expensive but if that is an issue there are assistance programs out there.  It sounds as if you are doing the right thing by breast feeding with a back-up plan, and if you can get your child to deal with the taste/smell then this may be a solution until you get the allergy situation figured out.  Good luck to you!

  2. My daughter, who is now 11, was put on it when she was like 2 months old for a milk allergy. It does stink but it helped her. She stayed on it until I took her off formula. My daughters allergy was so bad that she could not even tolerate breast milk.

  3. my dr put my baby on this formula bc he was lacto intolerant i hated this formula and it made him so sick to his stomach well we were only on it for like 2 days and the dr put him similac sensitive nutrimigen is also very expensive not that price matters for my child but we only make like 5 btls with it but ohwell we love the similac
