I don't know which is right,so I want to know nutritive value of canaryseed.

  1. Canary seed is actually less fatty than millet. Finches need the high amount of fat found in seeds because they are very active birds. And their diet should be supplemented with dark leafy vegetables,(purple and dark green lettuces, broccoli, spinach, collard greens), grated carrots, chopped strawberries, boiled egg crushed with the shell and whole wheat bread. Grit is also needed for finnches and canaries but not for keets.

Keets on the other hand need a diet of pellets, fruits, vegetables, seed, and bird-friendly table foods.

  2. just feed yoru parakeets pellets as a main diet adn give them parakeeet seed mix as a supplement or treat, and millet.

    why bother with canary seed?
