Nuwan Kulasekara not too concerned about http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s losses in warm-up matches – Cricket news
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy 2013 and is not too concerned about his team’s performance in the warm-up matches of the mega event.
Since the implementation of the new rules in One Day International (ODI) cricket, with two new balls being used on both ends, the 30-year-old cricketer has emerged as the Islanders’ premier bowler, having the ability to swing the ball both ways at will.
The right-arm seamer is of the view that he forms a brilliant bowling combination with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540, who is among the most dangerous bowlers in the shorter formats of the game.
“The rule affects different people in different ways,” Kulasekara said. “I think there is more pressure on me now, to get wickets. Lasith is probably the best limited-overs bowler in the world, so if batsmen try to play him safely and attack me, I have a
chance to get wickets. My strength is to swing the ball, so I'm expected to get those early breakthroughs.”
The cricketer from Nittambuwa has so far represented his country in 20 Tests, 134 ODIs and 27 T20 Internationals, having picked up 221 scalps at the highest stage of the game. Kulasekara does not enjoy high speed but he is rated among the best swing bowlers
of the current era.
Talking about his team’s loses in both the warm-up matches of the Champions Trophy against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, the right-armer expressed that the main purpose of such matches is to give practice to the players and the results should not be taken seriously.
“Who wins or loses doesn't really have a big effect. It's a practice match so we're changing bowlers around, and when our batsmen are going well we retire them and so on,” he claims.
Sri Lanka are placed in group A of the tournament along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, with their opening fixture scheduled to be played against the Kiwis on Sunday at Cardiff. Both the teams would be keen to win the match and start their campaign
in an emphatic manner.
