Nuwan Pradeep has a bright future, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Champaka-Priyadarshana-Hewage-Ramanayake-c49569 – Cricket News Update
Champaka Ramanayake, the Sri Lankan fast bowling coach, feels that Nuwan Pradeep has the ability to make it big at the world-stage but understands that the youngster has to work extremely hard to translate his talent into performance.
The 25-year-old debuted last year against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ayub-c76805 in front of the wickets in
the recently concluded Galle Test.
However, the Negombo-born cricketer bowled with pace and fire against the Green Shirts in unhelpful conditions, impressing his coach.
Ramanayake revealed that the fast bowler was spotted from street cricket and he always had the potential to become a good speedster. The former Sri Lankan cricketer however, is of the opinion that Pradeep needs to play more first-class cricket to polish
his skills as only raw talent is not enough to be successful in international cricket.
The coach is impressed by the rookie’s fitness level and claims that the right-arm bowler can bowl long spells without breaking down.
He expressed, "We discovered him when he was playing softball cricket. He always had the natural talent, but he didn't bowl enough when he was younger. We need to be patient with someone like him. He is actually one of the fittest guys in the team, but he
needs bowling fitness."
While talking about the upcoming fast bowlers’ progress in the country, Ramanayake thinks that the Lankan cricket authorities should prepare supporting tracks, which provide assistance to bowlers as well as the batsmen. This way, the bowling coach feels
the Islanders can produce better fast bowlers, who are essential for any team’s success in international cricket.
"If you give them seaming tracks, they may not get to bowl much, if the batsmen are bowled out quickly. I would say 50-50 pitches would be ideal. Most the tracks in international cricket are flat and they need to learn how to bowl on those,” Ramanayake added.
