Nvidia 280gtx vs Ati Randeon 4870x2?

I'm on the market for new graphic card, should I pick Nvidia or Ati, please help me out.

ATI is currently top but the power it requires and the heat that comes of this thing is immense, you need really good cooling and a power supply way over 1000W

ati handles better at higher resolutions and higher settings, downside is it drains alot of power. If you usually gaming at low resolutions go with nvidia

I would definitely go with the 4870x2

a single 4870 is slightly slower than the 280gtx, but the 4870x2 blows the 280gtx out of the water

the 4870x2 is the best single card on the market right now

ATI is better at 3D rendering and the X2 is a better card than the nVidia. of course the 'nVidia is better so there' crowd will all disagree, but nVidia is playing catch up to ATI right now...

if you are wanting to crossfire two of the X2's while using a quad core CPU, DDR3, and four drives then you need a 1000W PSU. if not, then you need about an 800W...
