Nvidia 8500 GT, can't find installation disc?

Question

I have a Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT PCI Express Graphics card.

I recently had to reformat my hard drive in order to reinstall Windows, and to my dismay, I can not find the installation software that came with the graphics card.

Nvidia's customer support sucks, and i've downloaded and tried just about every driver I can.

My computer says my card is working correctly, yet I get THE WORST resolution possible in windows xp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't spend $30 on a driver program. It's not needed. You more then likely need to completely remover any and all old or incompatible drivers that are on your system. Just because you uninstall a driver does not mean it's gone.

Use Driver Cleaner Pro to remove your Nvidia driver in Safe Mode restart and install the latest driver for your card and OS from Nvidia's web site.

Hmmm, the link below is to Nvidia's drvier website for the 8000 series video cards for XP.

You might check to see if the onboard video is disabled.

You must just have bad luck. Nvidia generally has pretty darn good customer support.

Hello from the Tech:

Here is the website that I use for driver downloads.  It does cost you 30 bux I think for the year but I use it all the time building systems and to anyone who is into keeping up to date it will be well worth 30.  The dont send you any bs in your mail box nothing.  Great deal all around .  It will update every driver in your system..I think your problem may be that the incorrect monitor may be installed or you simply have not installed the driver correctly.

Follow the link and do a scan that much is free it will tell you what drivers are bad and you can manually download from each site or if you join it will guide you to each driver.
