Ny state offender question

he's a registered s*x offender. on probation. convicted and spent time in jail.

if i file a restraining order against him (my exboyfriend) what would happen to him? would they put him in jail? or nothing? he's still on probation and still has to report his current address every few months.

  1. You would have to go before a judge and prove that you need a restraining order and if the judge feels that your request is warranted, it will be issued. He can only be put in jail if he violates his probation or commits a crime.


  2. I'm not in NY, so I could be wrong.  What I understand of the system, here in Oregon at least, is that he wouldn't be arrested unless he violated the restraining order.  His PO might be informed of the TRO, but they wouldn't consider that an automatic reason to put him in jail.
