Nyjer Morgan shines as Milwaukee Brewers defeat Atlanta Braves 4-2 – MLB Update
Nyjer Morgan put in a tremendous performance as he got the go-ahead run as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Thursday, April 7 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee took the four game series 3-1 against the Braves. The Brewers lost the opening game of the series, but managed to fight back and win three in a row to take the impressive series victory. Milwaukee battled it out with the Braves as Morgan was able
to steal a base and got the ball to come loose from a home plate collision giving Milwaukee the go-ahead run in this exciting game. Morgan was impressive throughout the game as the Brewers dominated the Braves.
After taking the lead, the Brewers kept the Braves scoreless. Ryan Braun also had a brilliant performance as he homered in the first inning for the Brewers. Braun is a tremendous player and is the backbone of the Brewers. He always manages to come up with
the big plays and leads from the front. His first inning homer laid the ground work for the Brewers as they dominated the Braves throughout the game.
Atlanta’s Tommy Hanson had a miserable day with the ball, as he gave up seven hits and three runs in just over five innings that he threw. Hanson struggled on the mound as he seemed to be lacking in confidence against the more powerful Milwaukee offence.
The Braves had a hard time trying to score against the Brewers.
"We've run into some pretty good pitching," Braves’ manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "You've got to tip your hat to these guys here. This club is able [to], and will, score some runs."
After a weak start in the season, the Brewers’ closer, John Axford pitched the ninth inning, not giving up any score and earning a save. The Brewers seem to have their pitching line-up secured, as their performance was impressive in the game. Milwaukee managed
to contain the Braves’ offence and make things difficult for Atlanta to score any further runs in the game.
The Brewers are beginning to look like a more positive side at this beginning stage of the regular season. The team has come together and has improved their game-play tremendously. Their aggressive stance against the Braves has shown many around the League
that the Brewers are a team to look out for during the season.
It will be interesting to see how long the Brewers will be able to carry their winning momentum in to their next match-up of the regular season. The Braves will be looking to put in an improved performance and to increase their efforts to build up some confidence
in their team.
